A couple extras
Sometimes while wandering, you find some really neat stuff that you never knew you needed until you saw it. CES is a mixed bag on these types of things - sometimes you find some great stuff, other years it seems like you're wandering past ten booths of the same thing. This year, there were a couple things that caught my eye...
On the left, you'll see some neat designs from a company called Built NY. The company started off making neoprene bags for wine bottles, beer bottles, and other things you might wish to keep chilled. However, as time has gone on, Built NY's designer has really expanded - now the company creates some pretty slick gadget cases out of the same material. Most interesting to me were the laptop bags, a couple are pictured here. The company has a really neat line of products that are definitely outside of the normal blah cases you see day to day - we might try to get a few of the different pieces to look at in the near future.
The right-hand image is actually a massage product from a company called Medi-rub. The booth had two products on display - one is a general massager used for your arms, legs, back, shoulders, etc. The other (and far cooler, in my opinion) is a foot massager that actually allows you a full foot massage even with shoes on. When you have your shoes off, it will allow for reflexology - I didn't get to test that part, however. But seriously - a foot massage on a show floor? Rock on!
Conclusion
Well, we hope you enjoyed the CES 2007 booth tour. The show happens to be one of my favourite parts of working for
bit-tech, and I hope this glimpse inside can give you a bit of understanding as to why. It's a whole lot of fun to be there each year, but it's really hard to illustrate the sheer size of what gets covered in just four days.
With that being said, one thing is for sure - I'm glad I'm a journalist, and not one of the guys that sets this all up. The countless man-hours spent between the PR teams, exhibiting company, and show staff is something that I'm thankful I don't witness. However, I have to say they do a great job - and I think that by looking at some of these booths, you'll agree.
Until next year, viva Las Vegas!
